Winner: Heather!
In July 2009 I decided I was making the switch to sustainable menstrual products. It seemed a bit hypocritical of me to promote cloth diapering while I tossed pads and tampons out each month. I recall thinking before my revelation that mama cloth was just gross and it would be such a pain and what if it didn't work? And then I realized all those arguments were the same ones being used against cloth diapers. Well after this brilliant revelation, I got busy and made some cloth liners. The tutorial is floating around on this blog, but since it embarrassingly poor, please skip it! So I whipped them up eager to start my own cloth stash, and wouldn't you know it but this happened:Well, I'm now 7 months postpartum and one of the only 7% of women who gets their period back before 6 months postpartum while exclusively breastfeeding. But since I like to make lemonade, I decided to be excited to green my period.
I'm doing something new and doing a vlog review for these two products, because I want to show you them up close and personal (don't worry, not too personal!) I apologize in advance for screaming children, cat shenanigans or student loan companies interrupting.
The products I'm reviewing are LadyCup and Muffies by Pleat, and after the video scroll down to see how you can win your own Greener, Happier Period package with everything you need to get started!

I love the Muffie's spot pattern overnight pad. It's so cute, I'd almost hate to get stuff on it.

Awful Period Moment: I was at my boyfriend's apartment, and realized my period had started and I didn't have any supplies with me. I told him I needed to go to the store (embarrassing enough for an 18 year old girl). Not that big of a deal, right? Well, on the way back, the drive shaft of the truck decided to fall apart, dragging on the ground. Boyfriend got so mad he punched the truck (and left a dent!) and a random motorcyclist stopped to see if we needed help, went home to get his car, and came back to take us back to the apartment.
The casualties of that period were one pair of undies and one brand new truck. *sigh* schmidthollowaycs@gmail.com
I love the Bloom print for the pads or the turquoise lady cup

hmm, period story. The one that comes to mind is recent. I was on a 12 hour road trip back home from CA with my 18 month old and 3 year old. Several hours into the drive I stopped for gas and felt a gush as I got started with the pumping. I had to finish pumping, grab the backpack full of clothes and my 2 pajamad kids and we went in and bought pads and all got dressed in the gas station bathroom. I then had to drive the rest of the way home feeling crampy.

My period story: The summer I got married I was working part time at Target. I'd been there hours and was due for a meal break, my then-fiance came in and was waiting. The next thing I know I'm leaking and turn around to check myself (you know the front back twist) and am aghast at what I see on my khakis. So I call him over and give him instructions about what to find - undies and pads included. I flag down my superior who reluctantly agrees that I should take my break now. In reality no one else probably noticed, but the fact that I had to indoctrinate him so early and share my surprise with my boss was slightly humiliating!
I love all the colours and patterns, I can't decide what my favourite is. Your video review was awesome, it has actually made me think about why I should use these instead of plastic pads. I am at my 5.5 month post baby and no period yet, I actually forgot I was supposed to get one again, I was dreading the thought but now I have something to be excited about. I would love to win to try it out. I also follow you on facebook, very new but so far I love your blog. Thank you for showing me the light!!!findfifi1@aol.com

I never had an real period moment, however in school, I sat on a ketchup packet, and everyone refused to believe that it was ketchup. Everyone made fun of me, so I kind of know how it feels to have a real period moment!

awful period moment: i was on vacation not the first summer after starting my period and whatever protection i had been using leaked and i didn't realize it until i had gotten back to the room. luckily i didn't know anybody there but it was humiliating as a teenager to have been walking around with a stain on my butt. heatheranya at hotmail dot com

FINALLY a mama pad company that understands that pad are for the mama! (I've seen a lot that come in kiddy themed fabric.) These colorways are great! I especially love Bloom!
I had to check out both sites!
Pleat - I love the Creamsicle pattern!
Ladycup - I really like all the color choices, but I'm partial to the pink. How fun!

Worst period moment - my very first period. I got my period, but didn't tell anyone and went to school that day as usual. I ended up getting called down to the office because my mom came to pick me up early. She had to ask me if I got my period because my dad noticed blood in the toilet. I forgot to flush! 12 year old me could have died on the spot! Of course it had to be my dad to happen upon it. The day turned out alright after all as we took a trip to the store to explore feminine products and my mom bought me chocolate, which she said was a very important feel better product while on your period :)
I really like the creamsicle pattern. I have been wanting to try the ladycups so I'd love to win this. Thanks!

My most awful period moment was when I was in university and had just bought my Diva Cup. I thought I felt it pop correctly, but apparently I was wrong because about an hour later I felt a gush and had to run back to my dorm because I was leaking. Luckily only my neighbour noticed and she just laughed with me.

Worst moment? Realizing what a tool I had been for spending all that money on disposable, toxic products that did nothing for me but put me at risk for infections, worsen my cramps, lengthen the duration of my periods, stinky, uncomfortable and polluting my world!
Best moment was when I got my first set of reusable cloth pads.

Worst period moment: when I got my first period. I was at school (high school) and I went to the bathroom and had bled onto my underpants. It wasn't heavy and I was able to get a pad from a friend, so it wouldn't have been a big deal, except that when I went back into the bathroom with the pad, two upperclass students realized what was happening (my first period), and stood outside the stall teasing me mercilessly - really cruel, mean stuff, not lighthearted teasing. So I was in this stall, putting my first pad every on my stained underwear, crying, and feeling trapped because these older girls were standing right outside the stall mocking me. :(

@Wehaf - that's awful. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I can't believe how some people can be so cruel.
I like the Muffles Creamsicle pantyliners.
Awful - seventh grade. Learning just how long a liner will last before it leaks all over you khaki pants as I walk up the aisle in science class to make a presentation.
The sherbert dots and the blue spot pads are so cute! I love it!
I love all the options for colors of the cup too! So much nicer than Diva Cup! :D
